on my suggestion:
Proxmox 3.4: I am using on my new baremetal.

Hardware RAID, RAID1 or RAID 10 for proxmox with storage.

I have been on ZoL, pretty stable 0.6.3.X in general for running 24/7 and
backup(running 0.6.2.X).

Open Virtual Switch is in proxmox now. need to enable free
 non-subsrciption repo.

one Warning, proxmox community forums is lack of supports
but as long as we know linux and kvm, we are good to go since proxmox uses
non-modified linux KVM.
I am skipping openVZ since concern on security due on container running on
the top of the host kernel.

do not forget to select virtio when configure VM..
