+1 for Python.

My kids went through "Hello World! Computer Programming for Kids and
Other Beginners" - Warren Sande, Cater Sande.

Very good book, the author wrote it with his son in mind so he could
teach his son. The book teaches the programming concepts as well as the
python language. He even presents that he decided to use python because
of it's flexibility and the fact it requires identation.

Anyway, my kids loved it. I went through the book with them. Very well
written and easy to use.

It is available at the Wake County libraries.
