I don't know if this anecdote is germane to your question, but my
Cyberpower UPS (about $120 bux, about 120KWH, IIRC) has been powering
my Daily Driver Desktop, my Backup Server, and my 27" LED flatscreen
for about 4 years, and still kicks in every time the voltage goes low,
and the voltage goes low every time my printer gets used.
