In the FWIW category:

It's just as easy (in theory). RHEL now supports upgrades[1] (with some limits) and Fedora has had it as well via dnf[2] (and fedup before that) for quite a while now. 

I have a system that has been upgraded to every version from F17 to F24. I still fresh install on the systems I really care about though.
