[TriLUG] "Laptop" for three year olds

Speaking from experience our Samsung Chromebooks have been a "zero"
maintenance phenomenon for our kids. You don't have to tether to the Apple
ecosystem, no OS upgrades, no special trips to the Apple store at the mall.
No Microsoft viruses. No need to call tech support. Never wasted "any"
hours, days, or weekends fooling around with maintenance on our
Chromebooks. Netflix just works. Closing the lid puts it to sleep and it
resumes the video you were watching or whatever you were working on, as
soon as the lid is reopened. Adobe patches are just fixed. HDMI into the
flatscreen and close the lid and automagically the kids are sitting on the
sofa watching netflix on the big screen using wireless mouse and keyboard.
We have never had a problem accessing Wake County School System resources.

4 years of bliss. They have taken a beating too.

Youngest was 4 years old when we gave as Christmas gift and now oldest is
half way through high school with countless English papers and math
tutorials under the belt.

Oh and they are cheap.

Linux can be loaded in Crouton to dual boot.

The only drawback may be privacy concerns however, with kids privacy will
be a concern on any device that touches the internet.
