[TriLUG] Blogging software recommendation

Hey Ron,

A few suggestions to look at that may do what you want:

1. I use a wiki based on PMWiki, from pmwiki.org to share internal
stuff with my colleges at work. I like it because it is a file based and
you can get it up in minutes. I use it internally at the office for
sharing notes and such.

2. A simple CMS that I've used for clients from time to time is
RazorCMS. It is a file based CMS, where Joomla and Droopal are
mysql/postgresql based.

3. Check out the Jupyter Notebook (used to be called IPython Notebook).
It was originally designed to share computational designs, but I've seen
a few websites and blogs using it.

4. I'd also suggest creating a simple blog on wordpress.com and
blogspot.com and try out their software before setting something up. The
nice thing is you can backup these blogs and move the content to a
private blog at a later date and then delete the "free" blog. I've
helped a few folks do this a few times.

HTH,

-Roy

I was hoping to find an easy-to-use blogging tool (Wordpress, Joomla, etc) to publish my info but have had a heck of a time getting the system template in place. I spent probably 3hrs today reviewing Joomla videos on youtube trying to unwrap the mystery behind menus, categories, articles, plugins, templates, etc - my eyeballs are spinning!

I just need a page to write down my thoughts, add some pics, and post. It would be nice to see a menu-type system on the right to look at recent articles. A search button would be nice as well.
