cool, but, with any DNS issue, you can quickly figure out the problem
and, YES, the whois is important :)

Here is what you do:

1. Do Use the whois -- example: 
branch.tree.nuts.me# whois main.me

2. Look for :
<snip>
Name Server:NS3.OX.CO.ZA 
Name Server: NS2.OX.CO.ZA   
(close to the bottom)

3. dig @NS3.OX.CO.ZA  main.me
--> check answers
4.  dig @8.8.8.8   main.me
--> check answers
5. dig @yourown-or-any-resolver  main.me
--> check answers
