[TriLUG] Locked Out Linux box (Denouement)

I too dislike systemd because it takes total control away, but, IMHO the systemd resistance is futile. When ALL the major linux distributions sign up for systemd, it's over. In reality, it only takes RHEL to sign up and most others will follow, but it didn't really go down that way. It was more of an industry plan. In any case, all major software vendors will drift away from supporting other init systems and if they do it will be secondary support and less reliable. I truly hate the coupling to systemd, but I am not going to waste a bunch of time fighting it.

Not trying to start an init philosophical revolution here, just trying to be practical with realities.
I still greatly miss the simplicity of SysV init, but as usual, as I dig into systemd, it gets easier.

As I mentioned in my reply to Steve Litt's post, moving to Ubuntu (or
a variant thereof), depends on whether or not I'll be able to convert
the proprietary rpms I use for my work to debs.
