If all you're doing is linux distros, you can use chroot. I had a vmware
setup for OpenNMS's build box, but it was pretty brittle, and a pain to
automate. Much easier to have this:

----(snip!)----
[root.a.t.build /root]# cd /opt/distros
[root.a.t.build distros]# ls -la
total 7
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 312 Nov 10 12:44 .
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 184 Oct 15 13:06 ..
drwxr-xr-x 20 root root 480 Oct 2 10:34 debian
drwxr-xr-x 20 root root 504 Nov 13 08:40 mandrake7
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 472 Nov 13 08:47 mandrake8
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 408 Oct 22 11:50 oculan
drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 528 Nov 13 08:55 redhat6
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 504 Nov 13 08:57 redhat7
drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 440 Oct 2 10:35 redhat7-XF410
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 416 Sep 21 22:58 redhat71
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 408 Nov 10 13:12 redhat72
drwxr-xr-x 22 root root 576 Oct 2 10:36 suse7
----(snip!)----

...and then do "chroot /opt/distros/redhat7" or whatever.
