open source iSCSI?

Hi all,

I am looking to build myself a SAN unit for backup based on iSCSI, so I
can have a central storage space of 2-4 TB. The SANs out there are so
expensive and I have found a few possible candidates but wondered if
anyone here has any experience or advice. The ones I came up with are:

Linux-iscsi at http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-iscsi/

Open iSCSI at http://www.open-iscsi.org/

Has anyone put an open source SAN together and if so, any thoghts?
Speed, robustness and reliability, and ease of implementation/use are all
factors, as is cost naturally.

best regards
Mike
