Thanks for all of the discussion so far. ZFS is certainly a possibility, since the disk array will likely be connected to a Sun* Enterprise T5120. I do wonder about performance, though. We currently have ZFS on a SunFire X4500 (server and disk array in one box), I've generally found it a bit pokey when copying data from it. Dan * Oracle? :(
