Job Summary: As a Senior Storage Administrator you work as part of a team
that provides service delivery and 
operational support for storage systems within our global datacenters. The
Storage Administration team is also responsible for communicating to
management the operational status of the storage environment including
performance, capacity, availability, failure rates, and other performance
metrics. To be successful you will need a strong technical orientation; be a
creative problem solver; be motivated to advance in the field; and work well
in a team-oriented environment. 

Essential Functions: 
- As a Storage Administrator 4 you are responsible for performance analysis,
proactive troubleshooting and capacity planning for the storage environment.


Your specific areas of responsibilities include:
- Participate in Candidate Architecture Reviews, ensure supportability
requirements and standards are followed
- Work with IT infrastructure Engineering group to test new NetApp
technologies
- Work with IT infrastructure Engineering group to develop new standards to
maintain or improve stability and scalability of the current infrastructure
- Manage SAN and NAS solutions globally
- Manage backups and the overall execution of retention policies
- Analyze performance issues and storage usage patterns; maintain adequate
capacity of all storage and backup solutions
- Ensure the ongoing maintenance of storage devices is maintained for
maximum resource availability
- Manage the development of a fault tolerant backup and recovery strategy
- Install, patch and upgrade NetApp OnTap versions for all production
storage systems
- Monitor incident and service management queues 
- Ensure the department is in compliance with Change Management policies and
Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Review the overall environment and inform management of new technologies
and best practices to improve system performance and availability
- Capture and analyze system metrics and present results to management
- Capacity planning, provisioning and load management
- Ensure that system documentation is kept up to date when changes are made
in the environment
- Identify and act on opportunities to reduce failures
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call duty rotation as assigned
- Coordinating with IT application teams and internal customers
- General communication, both written and verbal
- Performing off-hours (i.e. evening and weekend) maintenance activities
- Mentoring less experienced system administrators
- Using scripting languages (PERL, shell) to automate tasks

Job Requirements
. 9+ years of storage administration including 6+ years of experience
administering NetApp filers
. 3+ years of UNIX administration (Solaris, Redhat and/or AIX preferred),
working knowledge of Windows server administration
. NCDA certification is required, NCSA is preferred
. Expert scripting skills in one of the following languages
(ksh/bash/perl/SQL)
. Expert in data storage protocols including fiber channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS
and NDMP
. Expert knowledge of NAS, SAN, and limitations and benefits of each
. Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, NFS, NIS, DNS, UNIX account
management and file permissions
. Experience in a large data center with multiple terabytes (TB) of storage
. Must be able to manage time effectively and deliver objectives when
expected
. Ability to handle multiple complex tasks, with tight deadlines
concurrently.
. Strong interpersonal skills. 
. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
. Proven high performance in a dynamic environment. Must be able to operate
well in a team environment.
. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio,
PowerPoint)
. ITIL certification is a plus
. Experience with network and systems monitoring/management applications
such as Tivoli ITM, Omnibus/Netcool
. 3 to 5 years of experience with Unix operating systems shell scripting.
. Ability to work a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule.

Responsibility:

approaches.

- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter
expert.
- To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results
through regular leadership and influencing others.

Education and Experience- A Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical
Engineering or Computer Sciences, or related technical field is required; or
equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex
technical tasks.
- Knowledge of NetApp technologies is preferred.
- Experience in a large data center with multiple terabytes of storage.
