System Architect / Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Final responsibility for all aspects of the VoiceThread core
infrastructure
- This includes servers, storage, network, backups, datacenter
- Work with vendors (hardware, datacenter, CDN, etc)
- Ensure performance and availability of all infrastructure components
- Scale core infrastructure to meet the business and traffic needs
- Figure out how to solve tough, complex problems which may have no
pre-existing solution
- Assist with enterprise integration support as required
Qualifications:
- High III or IV on the SAGE standard job descriptions -

- Current with Linux, open source in general, and web services
- Understands HA, clustering, and scaling at a fundamental level
- Very strong network understanding (IP fundamentals)
- Strong scripting in a scripting language. Doesn't matter which one.
- Experience with virtualization in a production environment, Xen or KVM
preferred.
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Very strong troubleshooting / problem solving skills
- Database performance management, particularly MySQL
- BS in a strong quantitative field such as Computer Science,
Engineering, Physics or Math, or equivalent experience and quantitative
reasoning skills
This is a remote position with periodic travel to the Raleigh-Durham, NC
area and occasional travel to the Asheville, NC area

Systems Programmer
Responsibilities:
- Scripting and automation of a wide variety of processes
- Improve business-scalability and manageability of authentication
integration solutions
- Work on back-end aspects of the site such as merchant processing and
renewals
- Improve reliability and performance of many VoiceThread site-internal
processes
- Serve as a back-up to the system architect / administrator
- Assist with enterprise integration support as required
Qualifications:
- Very strong in at least one of PHP, Perl, Python or Shell
- Can quickly become strong in the rest
