[TriLUG] OT: Downgrading Safari 3.1 to 1.2 on a Mac running 10.3.9

Seems you'd just drag the safari icon to the trash as well, then
(re)install the 1.2 version, wherever you get that from. I may be
missing something in your description, but that's what I'd do in your
shoes. You've already uninstalled it, but the taskbar still has a
shortcut pointing to something that's gone. Just trash the icon. Now
install your older version, if you can. Never tried to grab a safari
for mac and install it - always just came on the machines I was using.

I'm no mac fanboy, but things like this in linux tend to be harder in
my experience. Often times installing one thing will have
requirements for other libraries that will get installed. Trying to
'uninstall' the original package will try to take out original
dependencies, but other programs installed later might require them,
and you'll be told that everything will be removed. Dealing with many
KDE packages, for example, nets me this result. On macs, I rarely see
that sort of dependency-hell (to borrow a phrase) because there's a
fairly large, relatively known base of core libraries that people
write to.
