Thanks Bill and David.
I dd'ed my own 5GB file. pv not resident in Oracle Enterprise Linux but
since retiring I have plenty of time, a few ls-l's wasn't a big deal.
Misspoke in my first message. My initial 1GB tests took 9-10 seconds.
The 5GB file takes 45 seconds.
