[TriLUG] Virtual PC Problem

Installed Virtual PC on my Debian 7 64-bit system. Plenty of ram (16GB) and space. Installed XP Pro and a couple of programs and it worked fine.
Shut VPC down and when I restarted it clicking on an icon does nothing and I can't select the normal shutdown option (bottom left). Have to use
the CTL+ALT+DEL option but the final screen stays up and VPC never shuts down.  I've been scouring the 'Net without success.
