Ummm...Don't forget, if you have a Mac, iTunes works there too! ;P

If you are strictly linux, you can backup and manage pictures on the the 
phone through Cheese, and Rythmbox too. Not as easy though.

I'd also recommend not using iCloud as they only give you 5GB of storage 
and the iPhone6 has 32GB minimum.
