Well I *think* the T460s, x260, and X1 Carbon are all based on the same
generation of hardware.

Linux seems to work out of the box (at least Debian and Arch) on the 3rd
gen:

I think the main difference in the 3rd and 4th gen is the Skylake
processor, but I'm not positive.

If you want 16GiB RAM, make sure to get it NOW.  The RAM is soldered on, so
what you buy it with is all it's ever going to have.  With the 40% off,
it's actually reasonable. Normally upgrading RAM through any manufacturer
is a royal ripoff.
