Lately, I am noticing that other more mainstream operating systems are 
even more painful when they don't work.  There seems to be fewer knobs 
to turn, and the discussions about fixes seem to be very superficial 
"black box" suggestions to try this or that voodoo magic, without any 
attempt to understand the underlying issues. Peruse
